Privacy at Dash

Smart glasses raise real questions. We take them seriously. Here is exactly how Dash Glasses handles your photos, videos, voice, and audio. No ambiguity.

Your photos and videos stay on your device

Dash Glasses do not upload your photos and videos to any cloud without your explicit choice. All your media files are private and stored locally on the glasses and your phone.

The only exception: when you actively use the "What's in front of me?" AI function. In that moment, a photo is taken and sent to an AI system for processing. This happens only when you trigger it. Never in the background, never automatically.

The backend AI models are selected at the discretion of the company for best performance. They may include models hosted outside India (such as systems by OpenAI, Google, or others). Other than this specific AI function, none of your media files are sent anywhere.

In short: your camera roll is yours. AI only sees what you explicitly ask it to see.

You control when the glasses listen

Some smart glasses (including Meta Ray-Ban) have raised concerns about voice assistants accidentally triggering in response to ambient speech. Words that sound like "take a photo" or "start recording" in a crowd can cause unintended captures.

In the Dash Glasses app, you get an explicit toggle to switch off voice wakeup entirely. Find it under Settings → Others → Voice Wakeup. When switched off, the glasses cannot be voice-activated by any sound in your environment. No accidental triggers, ever.

Every function is also accessible via physical buttons. No ambiguity, absolute confidence in all environments:

You decide when the camera activates. Not the room you are in.

Everyone around you knows when the camera is active

Whenever a photo or video is taken, the LED flash blinks visibly during the entire camera operation. If it is a photo, it flashes once. If it is a video, it stays active for the duration of recording.

In all social settings, the people around you are explicitly informed through this visible indicator. This follows the principle: no covert recording.

Audio glasses: nothing is recorded

For Dash audio glasses (A1, S1), all your phone calls and media playback pass through standard Bluetooth. This is the same technology your wireless earbuds use. Our glasses apps do not record, intercept, or access any of your audio.

Private phone conversations are processed by native Bluetooth functionalities on your phone and are never accessed by any Dash Glasses app. This applies to audio glasses and to the audio features of camera glasses alike.

Your calls are your calls. We never listen.

The bigger picture: smart glasses are actually more transparent

We understand that visual privacy is deeply personal. But consider the reality of the environments we already live in.

CCTVs are everywhere. Many are high-definition. Many have weak security and are openly accessible online. Anyone's phone can record without any visible indicator. No flash. No light. No consent.

Smart glasses with a blinking flash indicator are making an active effort to be transparent about recording. Dash is making an attempt to make recording in social spaces safer, not less safe.

We suggest: in places where capture safety matters, phone cameras (with no visible indicator) should be the concern, not smart glasses that explicitly signal their intent with a blinking light.

We take the best precautions to keep Dash Glasses a safe and conscious usage device. Your privacy is not an afterthought. It is built into the hardware.
